Texas Tidbits: Disaster relief grants awarded

Baptist Health Foundation grants top $6 million. Baptist Health Foundation of San Antonio awarded 81 grants in 2013 totaling $6,045,206. They included $20,000 each to Texas Baptist Men and the Baptist General Convention of Texas for disaster relief. Since their first grants in 2005, Baptist Health Foundation in conjunction with the former Baptist Health Services Foundation has awarded 632 health-related grants totaling more than $42.8 million to organizations in Atascosa, Bandera, Bexar, Comal, Guadalupe, Kendall, Medina and Wilson counties. Baptist Health Foundation of San Antonio was established in September 2004 from sale proceeds of the Baptist Health System to Vanguard Health Systems of Nashville, Tenn.

Baylor receives $1 million gift for Foster Campus plaza. Steve and Penny Carlile of Marshall gave Baylor University $1 million to create a plaza on the Paul L. Foster Campus for Business and Innovation. The $100 million, 275,000-square-foot Foster Campus will provide a new home for Baylor’s Hankamer School of Business. The facility is scheduled for completion in July 2015.
