Texas Tidbits: Laura Bush guest speaker at Wayland

Former First Lady Laura Bush will speak on “Reflections from the White House” as part of the Willson Lectures Series at Wayland Baptist University, during 11 a.m. chapel services Oct. 21. She also will participate in a question-and-answer session with Wayland President Paul Armes during a scholarship fund-raiser luncheon.

UMHB names vice president for development. The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor promoted Rebecca O’Banion, associate vice president for development and alumni relations, to vice president for development. O’Banion joined the UMHB staff in 2006. Previously, she was executive director of Hope for the Hungry, an interdenominational organization that works to meet the physical and spiritual needs of children around the world. O’Banion holds a bachelor’s degree in behavioral science from UMHB, a master’s degree in human services executive leadership from Liberty University and a doctorate in higher education administration from UMHB.
