Texas Tidbits: Mission Waco legal services receives grant

The Texas Bar Foundation approved a $15,000 one-year grant to Mission Waco/Mission World for its First Monday Legal Advice Clinic. The grant helps the clinic provide access to legal advice and representation for low- to lower-moderate-income individuals and families in greater Waco. Mission Waco’s Legal Advice Program, directed by attorney Kent McKeever, already has offered legal aid to hundreds of underserved Waco residents at the Meyer Center for Urban Ministries. Earlier this year, the Waco Foundation awarded a grant to Mission Waco Legal Services.

Wayland OKs doctoral programs. Wayland Baptist University trustees approved three doctoral programs. Pending confirmation by the Southern Association of College and Schools’ Commission on Colleges, Wayland plans to offer a doctor of philosophy degree in business administration, as well as doctor of management and doctor of education degrees. All three programs tentatively are scheduled to begin in the fall 2015 semester.
