Texas Baptists supply shoes for orphans. Members of churches around Texas that participated in Buckner International’s Shoes for Orphan Souls project delivered 2,100 pairs of shoes and 978 pairs of socks to the Texas Baptist Family Gathering in San Antonio. About 800 pairs of shoes and socks will meet the needs of children along the Texas/Mexico border, and the remainder will be sent to children in Honduras, Peru and the Dominican Republic.

Baptists team up for Loving Oklahoma. The Baptist General Convention of Texas and the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship will sponsor Loving Oklahoma, a disaster-recovery campaign Aug. 5-10 in five areas near Oklahoma City devastated by tornadoes in May. Organizers hope to attract at least 1,000 volunteers to remove debris and complete some home rebuilding projects. Registration cost is $15, which includes a T-shirt and volunteer insurance. Churches in the area will provide food and lodging for $10 per day. To register, click here
