TBM volunteers also provided nearly 12,000 cardboard boxes to residents who returned to their damaged homes, sifting through debris for photos and other treasured items and provided temporary emergency care for 142 children. Through April 29, TBM made available its shower and laundry units to provide residents and workers 275 showers and clean 618 loads of laundry. TBM received a $20,000 grant from Baptist Health Foundation of San Antonio for disaster relief in West. “TBM’s disaster relief ministry is made possible by generous gifts and grants. We truly appreciate the partnership of Cody Knowlton and the Baptist Health Foundation,” said Mickey Lenamon, director of development and associate executive director of TBM. “It takes all of us working as a team to care for victims during a tragedy like this one.”

Baylor surpasses fund-raising goal. Baylor University raised $101.4 million in less than three years for its President’s Scholarship Initiative. Ken Starr launched the three-year effort to raise $100 million in scholarship support for Baylor students after he took office as the university’s president in 2010. More than 11,000 donors contributed to the effort, with 5,240 making their first-ever gift to the university.
