UNT will teach biblical Hebrew. The University of North Texas in Denton has broadened its Hebrew language program to include biblical Hebrew. Beginning this fall, the two-year Hebrew sequence, offered by the department of foreign languages and literatures in cooperation with the Jewish studies program, will focus on the language of the Old Testament. Students will read and understand the Hebrew Bible and also learn the basics of Hebrew as it is spoken today in Israel. UNT is the only public university in the area that offers Hebrew. Hendrick named ‘great workplace’ again. Hendrick Health System in Abilene has been named a recipient of the Gallup Great Workplace Award for the third consecutive year. Hendrick is one of 23 organizations worldwide to receive the award this year. Hendrick employees participated in a Gallup survey that evaluates 12 criteria of engaged workforces. The Gallup Great Workplace Award is based on survey results and a best-practices portfolio summarizing the steps the organization has taken to increase workforce engagement. To be eligible for the award, organizations must have a sample size of at least 1,000 employees with at least 80 percent of employees responding to the survey. Applicants’ results are compared across a Gallup workplace research database composed of millions of work teams in more than 120 countries. A panel of workplace experts assesses the applicants’ results to select the winners.
