ETBU mourns student killed in automobile crash

A student at East Texas Baptist University was killed in a two-vehicle wreck just east of Hallsville on U.S. Highway 80 Jan. 15. Senior Jessica Teutsch, age 21, of Haughton, La., was traveling to her student teaching assignment at Hallsville Junior High when the fatal crash occurred.

Schmidt, former San Marcos Academy president, dies

UPDATED: Victor Schmidt, who retired just five months ago as president of San Marcos Baptist Academy, died Dec. 19 in San Antonio. Funeral arrangements at Sunset Memorial Park in San Antonio include a
visitation Monday, Dec. 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be Tuesday, Dec. 23, at 8:30 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Park, followed by a graveside service at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.

National Woman’s Missionary Union Foundation President David George presented a $10,000 check to Woman’s Missionary Union of Texas Interim Director Nelda Seal, to be used for the continuing relief and recovery effort following Hurricane Ike.
