Hello, Texas Baptists!
Recently, I was blessed to worship at First Baptist Church of Valley Mills. John Wheatley is faithfully leading that congregation, and I am encouraged by their love of the Lord and ministry. I am praying for him and his church as they continue to serve Valley Mills.

Congratulations to Ben Raimer, Texas Baptist Executive Board member, for his appointment by Gov. Rick Perry as the chair of the Health and Human Services Council. We are blessed by his contribution and leadership in Baptist life as well as in our state.

Mother’s Day is right around the corner, and we are gearing up for the Mother’s Day Hunger Offering. By uniting the efforts of Texas Baptists, we can raise $1 million this Mother’s Day to end hunger one mom at a time. So this May 11, let’s make Mother’s Day count by not simply passing the plate in church—let’s fill it. Please consider holding a special offering in your church on Mother’s Day. Why? Because every mother’s child needs a meal.
As you are looking over your 2014 calendar, I hope you will make sure the BGCT annual meeting is marked for Nov. 16-19. I am excited about this year’s theme: “Live the Difference.” As Christians in a fallen and broken world, we desperately need this message. Please join us. Your presence is of so much value to the convention.
