Hello, Texas Baptists. I had a wonderful morning Feb. 16 at South Seminole Baptist Church  in Seminole. Thanks to Ricky Guenther for allowing me time in his pulpit. It was a blessing.

The state executive directors’ meeting took place Feb. 10-14 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. The week was filled with planning, decision-making and fellowship. I came away proud of the work Texas Baptists are doing and the way we are doing it!

Executive Board meetings took place Feb. 24-25 in Dallas. Exciting things are under way for the convention, and these talented men and women are prayerfully paving the path for us. I am grateful for the time and effort they generously give in order for Texas Baptists to be the best we can be.

texas baptist voices right120I think you all know of my deep love for football. Houston Baptist University has received a $3 million gift from Robert and Janice McNair to support construction of the Huskies’ new on-campus football stadium. Generosity like that always humbles me. I am looking forward to showing my Husky pride at a game in this new stadium soon!

We are blessed by the work of the Texas Baptist strategists (www.texasbaptists.org/church-strategists) and their impact on the convention. If you have questions about what they do and how to get in contact with the strategist for your area, please contact Larry Vowell at (817) 247-3797 or by email at [email protected].

I continue to be blessed by the role I get to serve. You make my job a blessing.

David Hardage is executive director of the Baptist General Convention of Texas Executive Board.
