Hello, Texas Baptists!

I spent Sunday, June 22, at First Baptist Church of Bartlett. It was a great service and a blessing to participate. The next week, I was fortunate to be at First Baptist Church of Harlingen. Thanks to Pastor Wade Hood for this opportunity.

Baby Boomers are turning 65 at the rate of 10,000 a day for the next 18 years. Join hundreds of other leaders and volunteers preparing to “Catch the Boomer Wave” at this Texas Baptist event, which has become a national conference, Sept. 4-5. For more information, contact Keith Lowry.

Three bright young individuals represented Texas Baptists well in Helen, Ga., at this year’s National Bible Drill and Speakers’ Tournament. Two young people from First Baptist Church of Allen and one from First Baptist Church of Tenaha have done us proud. Way to go!

They are collecting walkers, wheelchairs, crutches and canes for their partners in Havana, Cuba, to distribute to needy individuals in and around that area. If you are interested in being part of this ministry and have donations to make, please contact Teri Ussery, WMU’s adult missions and ministry consultant.

Your Texas Baptist staff celebrated Independence Day by writing letters to men and women serving in our military. It has been a special time to give encouragement to those we love who are serving. I hope you take time to appreciate those in your life who serve this country.

It is a blessing to serve you.
