The Bivocational/Small Church Association annual conference is scheduled July 11-12 on the Baptist University of the Americas campus in San Antonio. This conference is design to minister to small-church ministers and their families who have taken on the call of God to serve in the small-church mission field. Last week, I described how this conference will provide breakout sessions that will edify, educate and equip you to serve in the small-church mission field.

richard ray130Richard RayThis week, I would like to highlight two breakout seminars, “Pastor to Pastor” and “Sermon Preparation.”

“Pastor to Pastor” is a seminar lead by pastor and author Dennis Phariss of First Baptist Church in Lolita. Dennis will lead participants to share their victories as well as their struggles. Through cooperative discussion, we have found God delivers answers to our struggles and allows us to celebrate our victories. Dennis will tell how the Lord got hold of him during his darkest time in ministry through the supportive compassion delivered by his fellow servants of the Lord. If you are seeing more struggles than victories in your ministry, this seminar is for you.

“Sermon Preparation” is designed to demonstrate the art of sermon development. Pastor David Keith of Carlton Baptist Church in Carlton will lead this seminar.

David has been preaching God’s word 30 years and is a retired educator from Tarleton State University. David will demonstrate techniques to write a sermon, acquire illustrations and deliver the message God has called you to preach. If you feel challenged when it comes to preparing or preaching a sermon, I would encourage you to attend this seminar.
