The Bivocational/Small-Church Annual Conference at the Baptist University of the Americas in San Antonio July 11-12 will encourage, equip and challenge those who serve on the small-church mission field. I would like to highlight two special moments of this year’s conference.

richard ray130Richard RayOn Friday night, the Bivocational/Small Church Association will present the 2013-14 Exemplary Pastor Award. Nominations were submitted by directors of missions around the state. This year’s recipients are Greg and Debbie Brumit of Kendrick Lane Baptist Church in Waco. I invite you to come and help us honor these two servant-leaders who not only have given their lives in service to our Lord, but also have done so with humility and grace.

On Saturday afternoon during the business session, the Bivocational/Small Church Association will vote on a recommendation to offer our resources in assisting those who are ministering to thousands of refugee children who cross our borders every week.

During the two-day conference, each participant will benefit from breakout sessions that will edify, educate and equip them to serve on the small-church mission field. The women will enjoy a beauty spa, where each of them can have her nails done and enjoy refreshments and fellowship. Meanwhile, the teenagers will experience San Antonio along the River Walk. For the children, there will be childcare and activities.

texas baptist voices right120You will not want to miss the entertainment on Friday night. Christian illusionist Mitch Chapman and the 46:10 Ministries band will perform. Chapman will entertain with his unique style of illusions, and 46:10 Ministries will share their talents as they take you back to the early days of gospel music.

Conference participants and members of the community will be able to take part in a free health screening provided by the Baptist Health Systems mobile medical unit. Children will have their faces painted and be entertained by Christian clowns. The Texas Baptist Men feeding unit out of San Angelo will provide breakfast and lunch Saturday. You do not want to miss the two-day conference, where you and your family will be entertained, equipped and edified.

You can find additional information and register for the conference on our website, (www.bivocational.com) or you may contact me via email. I look forward to seeing you in San Antonio.
