RE: Steve Vernon: ‘Faith, to be meaningful, must be deeply lived’

Dear Texas Baptists:

We have a treasure in Steve Vernon. As Associate Executive Director of the Baptist General Convention, Steve Vernon has the fiduciary responsibility to oversee the operations of our Convention. He carries out this task with aplomb.

Over the past six years, as a member of the BGCT Executive Board, I have observed Steve demonstrate the depth of knowledge he possesses about the workings of our Convention. I have been impressed by his capacity to administer our Convention’s work with efficiency, precision, and grace.

Whenever a question arose in a Board meeting regarding details of a matter under discussion, and no one could answer satisfactorily, the Board Chair would turn to Steve for the answer. I was amazed at the depth of knowledge which Steve Vernon displayed. He knows the ins and outs of our Baptist institutions, programs, people, and processes.

Steve’s hand is on the plow. We can trust that the work of our Convention is in good hands.

Steve’s hand is on the throttle. We can trust that our Convention is moving forward in the right manner.

Steve’s hand is in your hand. You can trust him as a true friend.

I thank God that He has gifted Texas Baptists with the treasure of Steve Vernon.

I enjoyed very much the interview with Steve Vernon and his perspective on faith, life, and ministry. I can relate to all of it. I appreciated his honesty and transparency that came from his heart as a pastor. Thank you, Blake, for a job well-done as the interviewer. May God bless you both!
