“Obituary: Glorieta, 1952-2013” was forwarded to us by a previous homeowner in the conference center. As ex-homeowners ourselves, my husband and I have grieved greatly over the demise of this beautiful, God-given place so dear to so many hearts. We purchased our small house there in 2002 and enjoyed 12 wonderful summers and Christmases there with our family members and our dear, dear Glorieta friends who resided there too. This is the first summer of not having our “summer retreat,” and it is very difficult.
I so appreciate the reflection on the past and present situations of Glorieta. I am saddened that our Baptist newspaper here in Louisiana has not been very forthcoming in reporting the happenings there. My husband and I did a short phone interview after I sent several e-mails to our editor about what was taking place, and a nice, accurate account of our interview was published. But from that time on, nothing has been written, and as far as I know, the final decision about the center never was reported.
We feel very privileged and honored the Lord allowed us to have a home at Glorieta those few years and to enjoy the spiritual renewal that always occurred when we were there as well as uniting with and fellowshipping with some of the most wonderful Christian people we have had the pleasure to meet.
Once again, I thank you for shedding some light on the development at Glorieta and bringing to light the sad situation of its ending.
