Letters: ID laws target voter suppression

Regarding “Progressive National Baptists call to restore, advance voting rights”

As an election poll worker, I know Texas and many states have long required voter ID. Those stringent requirements allowed no voter impersonation at the polls, as the record clearly proves.

The new laws are politically targeted at the unprecedented minority and student voter turnout we saw in 2008 when President Obama was elected.

The new ID laws never were about fraud and all about keeping certain citizens from voting, as the Supreme Court has now ruled.
