Texas Baptist Forum: 2nd Amendment revisited

Left-wing propagandist

Once again, left-wing propagandist Knox is using lies to promote his left-wing agenda (Aug. 6).

First off, "assault weapons" already are illegal. What Knox is talking about is semi-automatic look-alikes that do not meet the definition of an assault rifle. Knox and his ilk in the news media have coined the false assault weapon definition to promote a radical anti-Constitution left-wing agenda.

No law would have prevented these tragedies. Murder is also illegal, yet killers kill. The bogus "assault rifle" is a wedge issue by which liberal liars are trying to incrementally destroy Second Amendment rights.

Knox does not know what he is talking about when he mentions militias. At the time of our founding fathers, there were no militias. Every free man with a rifle was considered to be a militia man.

The original purpose of the Second Amendment was to deter tyranny from our own government. A free man with a gun is also what gave liberal journalists like Knox the right to lie.

We were really disappointed a few years ago when our neighborhood hamburger restaurant closed and was replaced by a title loan lender.

It was made even worse when we learned the new lender's phone number was one digit different than our home number.

We get calls and voice messages from time to time that are intended for the title loan company.

Some of these people are just seeking information about the company or their loan. But most of the people are frantic, panicked or sad. They are calling to see if they are going to lose their car because they missed a payment or to see what options they have because they can't make their payment.

It is heart-wrenching to hear their pleas for relief and the fear in their voices. We hate getting those calls and messages. It is obvious that many of these people have fallen into a trap that they can't escape from.
