Economic theory

Ever since Ronald Reagan assumed the presidency in 1980, Republicans in Congress, with help from some Democrats, have waged class warfare on the middle class and poor by foisting on the American people a morally flawed, unworkable, trickle-down economic theory.

In word and deed, congressional politicians, whose campaigns are largely funded by big corporations, seem to imply America owes everything she has been, is, and forever will be to good old-time, trickle-down economics religion.

The call for limited government is mostly about cutting spending by cutting or eliminating social services for society's most vulnerable. How morally responsible is that?

Permanent tax cuts for the wealthy plus cuts in Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, the WIC program, etc., is a recipe for unending economic troubles. The wages of individual and corporate greed are personal and collective moral-spiritual death.

How much longer will we middle class and poor voters allow ourselves to be conned by politicians who keep promoting and implementing an economic theory that doesn't work for the overwhelming majority of America's people?
