Mormons and faith

Mormons & faith

The Baptist Standard contained several articles talking about the faith of the Mormons (Sept. 3). I thought they would reveal Mormon belief is not biblical, but only the beliefs of several men who left the church in the 1800s.

Mormons believe Jesus and Satan were brothers. According to Mormon doctrine, as the first of the “spirit children” of God, Jesus had pre-eminence over Satan or Lucifer, the second “son of God” and “spirit brother” of Jesus. It is ironic they use Colossians 1:15 as a prooftext, because it says, “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.” Yet they ignore verse 16: “By him (Christ) all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth. Visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through him and for him.” All things—thrones, dominions, principalities or powers—include Satan and his demons.

These extrabiblical revelations often are seductive because they offer alleged secret knowledge that wasn’t revealed in the Bible.

This alone should tell Christians that Mormons are not Christian but are a group that adds words and pagan practices to their religion at the time they need them.

Texas Baptist ForumMayors & Chick-fil-A

The mayors of Boston, Washington, Chicago and San Francisco threaten to not allow Chick-fil-A franchises within their jurisdictions. These attacks and actions are toward a Christian who attacked no one and who merely stated his Christian values.

Politicians use “separation of church and state” as basis to keep ministers from addressing political problems. But these four mayors crossed that barrier from the political side by attacking a Christian merely for his Christian beliefs.

These four mayors must now direct communications to Billy Graham and advise him he is not welcome in their cities.

The pope must be advised he never will be allowed in these four cities.

All Christian churches within these four cities must have dictated what they can preach and teach, and they must accept and promote the homosexual lifestyle in their churches. Punitive political action will be taken should they violate the rules.

Political correctness must be followed.

Devout Muslims do not approve of the homosexual lifestyle. They must be advised no new Muslim businesses will be allowed within those four cities.

Devout Jews must be placed on the same notice. See the account of Sodom and Gomorrah in the Hebrew Bible.

True Christians do not bash, act adversely or in any way prevent homosexuals from living in the United States of America. However, their lifestyle cannot be accepted by true Christians.
