Life-changing journey

Although the true beauty of this wonderful country is masked by poverty and dying children, I knew God was still present and that he would reveal himself. My main take-away from the trip was when a few members of our team were privileged enough to help install a water well pump on the outskirts of the city. To see the sheer joy and overwhelming happiness of the people from the clean water being pumped from the ground—something I take for granted daily—brought about a life-changing sense of humility.

God truly has blessed my life so much. To go to a world away from our own and see starvation and disease run rampant, and yet see happiness and love like I’ve never witnessed before, is amazing.

My prayer for you is that you realize all that God has blessed you with and understand that true happiness and peace do not come from the world, but from the loving Father who created us.

Kristian Nichols, a student at Stephen F. Austin State University, served on a recent mission trip to Haiti through Go Now Missions, in partnership with Mission Waco.
