I cannot believe the end is so close. Where did the last four months go?
A few weeks ago, I felt good about going home in a short while. But then we went to Ratang Bana, the kid’s ministry. I saw two of the cutest kiddos, twins named Carulla and “Scootie.”
I bent down and said, “Hi, buddies!” They both came running into my arms. Immediately, three weeks left of doing that sounded way too short.
I went to a Bible study I’ve been attending with my new Afrikaans friends. The spiritual discussions were the deepest they’d been, and the laughter was more prevalent. Knowing I had two weeks left of that made me feel like I was about to leave behind a family.
Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, “There’s a time for everything, a season for every activity under heaven.” This has been an unforgettable season of my life. I’ve seen reason upon reason as to why God has brought me here, from teaching me how to be a servant to how to use my gifts for his purpose.
Pray for a fruitful next several days and safe travels for all of the HandsOn students. We have debrief starting May 27, where all of the students will gather together here in Johannesburg. We fly home May 30, and I land on Texas soil May 31.
It’s clear God’s next step for my life is to work at the Baptist General Convention of Texas in the communications office. Pray for my adjustment as I return home and get settled in for two weeks before beginning the job God so graciously provided.
