Hello, Texas Baptists. I begin by thanking Jim Denison for his willingness to continue serving our Texas Baptist family as our theologian-in-residence. You can keep up with his work at www.denisonforum.org.

Kathleen and I appreciated the opportunity to represent the Baptist General Convention of Texas at the recent board of regents meeting at Baylor University (www.baylor.edu). It was a good night, and I'm grateful for the sweet spirit that exists between the convention and our institutions. We are family, and our future, together, is bright!

Thanks to Roger Paynter and the family at First Baptist Church in Austin (www.fbcaustin .org) for making my family feel so welcome recently. As you know, his wife, Suzii, is the director of our BGCT Advocacy/Care Center.

Your state convention enjoys the opportunity to partner with some of our churches and Baptist ministry students through an organization called Unlimited Partnerships. Brent Taylor, pastor of First Baptist Church in Carrollton (www.fbcc.org), has helped foster this relationship.

It was a delightful day at the Baptist Building when we hosted the Baptist Building Retirees' Fellowship. These are men and women who served us so well in the past and continue to stay connected to our ministry. Many of my BGCT heroes were there, and I was so honored to share a word with them.

I enjoyed a great morning at Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler (www.gabc.org) when I attended their Breakfast of Champions. More than 500 people attended the interview between Pastor David Dykes and Baylor University football Coach Art Briles.

Thanks to Tommy Rosenbald of First Baptist Church in Bartlett for allowing me the chance to preach in their Sunday morning service. He is providing great leadership for this congregation. And they have a historical marker in front of their building, describing their rich history. Kathleen and I were blessed by such sweet hospitality!

David Hardage is executive director of the Baptist General Convention of Texas Executive Board.
