Hello, Texas Baptists! The holiday season is now upon us, and Kathleen and I hope and pray you enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving and are preparing for a Merry Christmas and a great New Year!

hardage david130David HardageThanks to Steve Dalrymple, president of Baptist Community Services in Amarillo, for hosting a great luncheon recently for Bill Arnold of the Texas Baptist Missions Foundation and me. It was a special time gathered with a group of committed Texas Baptists. BCS serves the Panhandle well.

Kathleen and I enjoyed a nice evening with a group of friends, faculty, students and supporters of the Baylor University Louise Herrington School of Nursing. Some of these students take a class a couple of days a week in your Baptist Building. They are well-trained and will serve their patients with a great Christian spirit.

Thanks to Pastor Rich Del Rosario and Executive Pastor Ernest Dagohoy for allowing me to preach at the 25th anniversary service of the First Philippine Baptist Church of Houston. It was a fantastic day of worship and fellowship.

Your Texas Baptist family has begun an endowment fund in memory of the late Charles Price, former director of missions for the San Antonio Baptist Association. The money earned by this fund will be used to help serve and train associational leaders. If you would like to support this cause as an expression of thanks for the ministry of Charles, please do so by sending your contributions to Baptist General Convention of Texas, Attn: TBMF/Charles Price Endowment Fund, 333 N. Washington, Dallas 75246. Thanks to Cody Knowlton and the Baptist Health Foundation of San Antonio for their recent $5,000 contribution.

Please join me in praying for our search for the next director of our Christian Life Commission. This vital part of BGCT life has a bright future for us.

More next time. Oh, and by next time, I should be a grandfather!

David Hardage is executive director of the Baptist General Convention of Texas Executive Board.
