Denton: God is faithful, working behind the scenes

The spring semester is in full swing at Texas Woman’s University in Denton.

We had our first leader meeting with many new leaders, our welcome back party, our first free lunch, our scavenger hunt, and lots of lots of coffee, of course. We also gave out hot chocolate on campus to meet new students and invite them to start-of-the-semester events.

During the break between semesters—when many of us weren’t doing much except opening gifts, stuffing our faces, maybe watching too much Netflix and getting lots of sleep—and when I was on my honeymoon—God was doing a lot.

Last year, we held a few prayer events. We set up couches all over campus. Our student leaders sat on the couches, holding a sign that said, “Need Prayer?” Other students stopped, sat with them and shared their prayer requests.

Brittany prayed for one student’s requests. The student’s boyfriend was traveling back home, and her mom had just been diagnosed with cancer.

During the hot chocolate giveaway event, that same student walked up to Brittany and said:

“You may not remember me, but I remember you. You prayed for my mom and boyfriend last semester. Just to let you know, my boyfriend made it safe, and my mom is now in remission.”

Days like this give me hope for what is to come. Even when we don’t see the fruit of our labor now, we know God is doing something behind the scenes. His word states it won’t return void. We should continue to work hard and not be discouraged.
