At the beginning of the school year, all the organizations on the Howard Payne University sponsor an event to encourage new students to get involved and to help them meet groups on campus.

We were excited to see how this change would affect us. With Baptist Student Ministry leadership team selections coming up it’s a great time for us to have a presence in the campus.

Each organization seeks a creative approach to recruit students or finds something distinctive to give out to attract them. At our table, we had made a Valentine sack of candy with a card that told how to subscribe to our weekly updates newsletter. We also organized “minute-to-win-it” games, offering each winner a BSM mug. hpu sillygames425How many Oreos can you stack on your forehead to make a unicorn horn?We sponsored silly games, like seeing how many Oreos a student could stack on her forehead to make a unicorn horn.

We had so much fun watching participants try to win the games, and they drew a great crowd of people to play and watch. We talked to several students who were not already involved and told them ways that they could get engaged in BSM. We also talked to many students about signing up for our leadership team. It was a great time to meet students and hang out with other organizations.
