“I” trouble

I knew I had a package arriving from home. I decided to check the mail a little early, even though I was pretty sure it wouldn’t be here yet.

As I walked to the little building where the mailboxes are located, I saw another girl walking up. I said hello to her, she replied, and then I went to check the mail.

She checked her box and made some sort of joke about the mail not being here yet. That little joke led to a 45-minute conversation. I invited her to hang out with us the next night.

This sounds a lot like some of the other stories our team has except for one thing: I was the one who met her. The whole time we have been here, I’ve had a really hard time talking to people. I’m shy. I’ve been trying to overcome this for a long time, but there’s a problem in that—“I.”

Slowly, I have been working towards surrendering my weaknesses over to Christ and watching him to transform me more and more into his image. It’s tough going, but little things like this give me the encouragement and the courage to keep going, knowing that he’s got my back and even when I fall, he is strong. ?
