Learning from children

I expected that the adults at Mission Denton—not the children we work with—would have an impact on my life. I have been surprised.

A 17-year-old girl helps us at locations on Mondays. Recently, I was able to hear her story, and it was a lot like mine. Her father died a year and a half ago from cancer. I was able to relate to her because my mom died when I was younger. Even though this girl serves with us, she is not a believer. I was able to tell her God has a plan for her, despite her father's death. It just amazed me that she would be willing to serve with us even though she is not a believer. I hope to continue to pour into her life.

A 10-year-old girl from one of my locations also has made an impact on me. She has such knowledge of God's word, and she is completely on fire for Christ. Once, she was talking about her brother's love for the military, and she said that she would rather die for Christ than for her country. This little girl has a martyr's heart. I believe this girl is going to be a missionary some day.

I praise God for these children and what they have taught me.
