It’s been an awesome privilege serving in Orlando, Fla. Every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, we have hosted a Kids’ Club for children at the resorts in Orlando. My team and I played games with the kids both in the pool and out. Then we would tell them Bible stories and do crafts.
Kids’ Club team members found soccer is a global communicator.One particular Kids’ Club day was quite memorable for us. One of the boys was at our pool the previous day but did not want to join us in any of our games. Another boy, attending Kids’ Club for the first time, spoke very little English.
However, through all the different languages and diverse cultures represented—and even lack of interest—there was one thing we could all agree on: Soccer. The United States, Ireland, Scotland and Brazil were all playing it out on that patch of grass.
Through this, we were able to hold their attention long enough to share the gospel with them, form relationships, and even distribute and explain salvation bracelets to them. Despite the language barrier, every child there left the pool that day with knowledge and understanding that Jesus loves them and died for their sins. All glory be to God.
