Philadelphia: Eight stops for Jesus

Ever feel like the best place to share the gospel might just be while you’re in transit, on your way to share it somewhere else?

Ever feel like the best place to share the gospel might just be while you’re in transit, on your way to share it somewhere else?

That is what we are called to do—make it the point of our lives to share the truth about Jesus Christ. One of the things that I have found to be the most amazing here in Philadelphia is the opportunity to share Jesus through mass transit.

The other day, my team and I were headed to help bake cookies for a Vacation Bible School. We got on the train, as usual, and I sat next to a woman who was perfectly content sitting in silence without looking at anyone else. I caught her off guard by asking about her day and where she was headed.

She was interested in where I was headed and where I came from. I explained my mission and how I was doing my best to spread the love and truth of Christ. This woman, who hadn’t visited a church since she was a preschooler, had never heard about Jesus Christ.

You can imagine my excitement to be able to tell her about our Savior. It only took eight stops to tell her of the love our Lord has for her and how she can find salvation through Jesus. She didn’t fall down, or burst into tears and commit right there, but that seed was sown. And I could see in her face a light of hope.

God blessed my life right there at that moment. Please keep Melanie in your prayers.
