In Touch: The BGCT annual meeting will be here soon

Hello, Texas Baptists. The Baptist General Convention of Texas annual meeting will be here before we know it. This is an exciting time for our convention, as we pave the way for our future and focus on what it means for us to “live the difference.” In this exciting age of change and diversity, I think it fitting to focus our attention on what it means to live out our faith radically and authentically. So, I hope you can join us in Waco, Nov. 17-19, for our theme, “Live the Difference.” Now, you can easily register your church messengers by clicking here.

With representatives from church starting, African-American ministries, Woman’s Missionary Union and surrounding churches, this team is equipped with many faithful leaders who will work diligently to meet needs and bring the hope of Christ to areas of Brazil.

The committee that nominates Executive Board directors will meet in your Baptist Building. Please pray for them as they nominate new leaders from around the state to serve as directors on our board.

texas baptist voices right120Please continue to pray for us as we search for our new Baptist Building. It has been a joy to work alongside the team at Transwestern, as well as with the BGCT transition team. These individuals have been working hard to move forward in this effort. We also are in the process of looking for a location in Waco to hold the Texas Baptist Historical Collection. Progress is being made.

I had the privilege of meeting with Pastor Mark Woods of University Baptist Church  in Fort Worth and Pastor Ron Danley of Meadow Lane Baptist Church  in Arlington. One of the most rewarding parts of my job is spending time with pastors. I’m grateful for those opportunities.

If you are ever in the Dallas area, please come by and say hello. My door is always open.

David Hardage is executive director of the Baptist General Convention of Texas Executive Board.
