David K. Naugle Jr. of Duncanville, longtime professor at Dallas Baptist University, died June 11. He was 68. Naugle was born Dec. 2, 1952, to David K. Naugle Sr. and Beverly Chambers Naugle. He grew up on the east side of Fort Worth, graduating from Eastern Hills High School. After giving his life to Christ while watching a Billy Graham crusade on television, his involvement with the Fort Worth Young Life Club began his lifelong calling to work with students. Young Life laid the groundwork for what became a way of incarnational teaching and mentoring as a college minister/professor at the Cornerstone at University of Texas at Arlington for eight years and then as a professor at Dallas Baptist University for 28 years. Naugle held a Doctor of Theology degree from Dallas Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Texas at Arlington. He taught for 40 years and wrote several books and articles that have been translated into several languages. He traveled the world as a speaker and lecturer and became noted as a Christian worldview scholar. In addition to his scholarly endeavors, he most loved spending time with students. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Deemie Slade Naugle; stepdaughter Courtney Cuthbert and her husband Jeremy; and a brother, Mark Stephen Naugle.
