A 1990 summa cum laude graduate of Southern University in Baton Rouge, La., Sonya Stevenson earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and has completed additional coursework in education and business administration at the University of Houston.
Sonya’s professional work includes experience as an internal auditor and financial analyst for Exxon Chemical Americas. Upon her husband’s calling into the ministry and subsequent founding of The Fort Bend Church of Sugar Land, Texas, she began her career in the nonprofit sector working as a budget analyst, career and technology education teacher and business manager for the Houston Independent School District. She worked in this capacity for several years prior to assisting her husband with the church’s founding in 2004, later becoming the executive director of The Fort Bend Church, a congregation of more than 7,500 members.
